The GFWC SCC Woman’s Club participated in this community-wide drive to collect school supplies for students in our area. Virginia Kimball spearheaded the collections, keeping all the donations at her house after they were dropped off during June and July. Almost $600 in supplies were contributed! Virginia filled her SUV and delivered them to the United Methodist Church.
Annual grant checks were given to 9 local organizations this year. Our fundraising efforts were very successful and the club was able to add to our list of recipients. Below are picture of a few of our members delivering the checks to Sun City Center Library, Samaritan Services (Meals on Wheels, Alzheimer’s Respite, and SCC Rides), SCC Security Patrol, C. A. R. E, Camp Bayou and Beth-El Food Pantry. Not pictured – Mary Petrol Fund and King’s Point Library.

8 Organizations were selected by the Grants Committee to receive donations from the GFWC SCC Woman’s Club. 5 Representatives of these organizations were able to pick up their checks at our Food Drive. Hope Fund, Pennies for Books at Wimauma Elementary, and Seeing Eye Guide Dogs will receive their grant checks soon. A donation was also given to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in appreciation for allowing us to use their driveway and parking lot for activities this year.
On Monday, November 18, 2019 Virginia Kimball and Susan Royal, SCC Woman’s Club Co-Chairpersons, delivered a check to Julie Floyd and Kirk Warren, Samaritan Services to provide Thanksgiving Meals to some of the residents. The money was raised at the SCC Woman’s Clubs monthly meetings by offering opportunity tickets for a door prize. More items will be offered at upcoming meetings.
Meals on Wheels is a community service in Sun City Center which provides hot meals daily to individuals. It is administered by a partnership between GFWC Sun City Center Woman’s Club, Samaritan Services, South Bay Hospital and an extensive network of service clubs and churches in the area.
On Friday, June 28, 2019, The GFWC Sun City Center Woman’s Club donated 50 heart pillows and 35 seat belt covers to the Florida Cancer Specialists and Research Institute. The seat belt covers make riding in a vehicle much more comfortable for the patients and the pillows give comfort because they are so huggable. Sally Anne Barclay, President, and Karen Wilkinson, Arts and Crafts Committee Chair, delivered these to the Cancer Center. The members of the Arts and Crafts Committee work year round at Community Hall and at home to make these items and other projects to help the community
