Committee Activities

Arts and Culture

March 26, 2026 Artist Tanya Killebrew showed us how to decorate plant sticks that you can use in your yard, house plants, gifts, memorials.  They are beautiful and crafted by each person assembling them

Civic Engagement & Outreach

On Friday, March 15th, these committee members held “Feeding our Firemen” to honor our first responders at Station 28 in Sun City Center . They delivered pulled pork sandwiches, potato salad, baked ziti, tossed salad, ice cream for dessert, and iced tea to drink.

Environment

March 27, 2024 We conducted a city-wide shoe drive to support the Soles 4 Souls initiative. Almost 450 pairs of shoes (600 pounds!) were collected and shipped. Members of the Environmental Community Service Program Committee were busy for hours collecting, pairing, packing, and shipping the shoes. What a success!

On Monday, February 5, six Environment Committee members gathered, and braved walking in the morning rain to tour the Manatees and the Stingrays at the Teco Apollo Beach Manatee Viewing Center.

Pictured are Anne Fagan, Virginia Kimball, Regina McCain and Jean Beauvais. (Photo shy, were Mary Starrett and Christine Morrison). We got to see up close the cluster of Manatees keeping warm in below 60 degree water nearby Teco power plant. We stopped by the education room and the gift shop, before heading out for lunch at the nearby First Watch restaurant.

It turned out to be a fun day trip.

Fundraising

Our club can only hold 2 fundraisers, as stipulated in our bylaws.

March 22, 2026 Egg-stravaganza was the title for the spring fundraiser. Through all our efforts and creativity we raised $3,300 net profit which will be distributed to local charities that we support!!

Health and Wellness

This committee has been busy all year-long bringing cheer and gifts to local assisted living facilities.

In March and April 2026 we visited with seniors at different locations and made bunnies and decorative crafts for Easter.
