Lt. Annie Hunter, a retired Fire Medic, presented a comprehensive overview of the training and qualifications necessary for firefighters and EMTs. Drawing upon her extensive experience in both roles over several years, she shared insightful anecdotes from her service. The District Director of GFWC Florida District 8, Judy Quail, delivered a brief address regarding the GFWC at both district and state levels. A selection of our committee chairs and board members provided detailed explanations of their respective functions within the club.
Susan Royal has been honored with the Volunteer of the Month award in recognition of her unwavering dedication and exemplary support for the club. In her capacity as Health and Wellness Chair, she successfully gathered voluntary monetary contributions for a scholarship fund for firefighters seeking to attend Fire School.
We were super excited to bring back our cookout, where everyone enjoyed a BBQ lunch with hot dogs, hamburgers, coleslaw, potato salad, and cupcakes – a fun break from the usual luncheon banquet.

Lions, Tigers and Bears Program: Robin Greenwood, Founder and CEO of Elmira’s Wildlife Sanctuary talked about the animals that are cared for by volunteers. We saw slides of the animals that live at the sanctuary, large and small. Visit their website elmiraswildlife.org for information about tours and their programs.
Eileen Eacker was given Certificate of Appreciation for her participation in the talk about Martha and George Washington. Carina Faneuf was recognized as Volunteer of the Month. We collected over $500 worth of supplies for the sanctuary.

The meeting was centered around the Installation of Officers for the Board of Directors for 2026 – 2028 and introduction of Committee Chairs. Many items were donated to the students at Ruskin Elementary School for their summer fun and activities.
April 16, 2026
On April 16th, the Sun City Center Woman’s Club staged a Titanic formal luncheon with replica artifacts from the White Star – table setting china, dolls and clothes from the era, gowns and gloves. A 93 year old member, Jeanne Naish, portrayed an actual survivor from the heart-wrenching evening on the Titanic. Over 100 people in attendance enjoyed dressing up and taking home memories. Food donation total was $1,500 for Wimauma Elementary School Food Bank and Our Lady of Guadalupe Food Pantry. See slideshow below:

The annual Arts and Crafts competition was judged, with blue ribbon winner selected to show their projects at the GFWC Florida DIstrict 8 competition.
December 18, 2025
Our December meeting was all about giving in the holidays. Angel Tree presents were collected for the Hope Fund children of Wimauma. 500 items were donated for the Bare Essentials Ministry of the United Methodist Church of SCC.
Diane Alty received the December Volunteer of the Month award.
Lee Stevens, Director of Carnival World Museum in Gibsonton talked about carnival world, it was very entertaining and informative.
