2025 GFWC International Day of Service: Help End Domestic and Sexual Violence

According to the World Health Organization, it is estimated that between 736 million to 862 million women, aged 15 years or older, have experienced domestic and/or sexual violence. Within the United States, based on research conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 16 million people are affected every year.

Our club packed 30 backpacks for survivors of human trafficking for Campaign Against Human Trafficking (CAHT).

GFWC Florida Annual Convention April 12 – 15, 2024

The convention was held in Orlando and all three days were jam-packed with activities. Virginia Kimball attended and took lots of pictures. There was a silent dance where attendees wore headsets and listened to music of their choice! We had a few entrees into the statewide Arts and Culture competition.

GFWC Florida District 8 Arts and Culture Meeting and Competition February 17, 2024

GFWC Florida District 8 Arts & Crafts Meeting and Competition was hosted by the GFWC Sun City Center Woman’s Club and the GFWC Pasco Junior Woman’s Club. GFWC FL District 8 Director Annette Bellingar and GFWC Florida District 8 Jr Director Jasdeep Cook celebrated the many accomplishments, donations, first time attendees, LEADS candidates, send one sister candidates and volunteer of the year candidates. The District 8 Volunteer of the year winner is Shannon Brewer from GFWC Nature Coast Woman’s Club. We had 119 attendees and 44 Blue Ribbon winners in the Arts and Crafts competition. The Best of show went to Karin Damico from GFWC Tampa Woman’s Club.

GFWC National Day of Service 2023

On Saturday September 30, members of our club volunteered at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Food Pantry as participants in the GFWC National Day of Service. The first shift started 6:30am and 2 more shifts arrived during the morning, ending at 11am. It was a busy day, but very worthwhile helping the area residents who are food-insecure.

GFWC Florida State Fall Boards 2023

The Florida State Fall Boards were held on September 22-24 in Orlando. Virginia Kimball, Club President, and Linda Raymond, Club Vice President attended and were very busy all weekend. This year’s theme was Going Above and Beyond what we as GFWC Florida do—we go above and beyond in our programs, projects and especially our volunteer work.

Meeting and workshops are held to give information to help our clubs and members. We
attended Membership and DEI, Leadership, District /State Arts and Culture and Photography. They had three new classes: Leader Mentorship for those to be a mentor or a mentee. Hands on Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention, and Hands On Workshop, CSP Communication and Public Relations. Linda went to the First Time Attendees Workshop and learned about Standing Rules, what the Fall Boards was all about. Total attendees were 390 plus two other States’ officers.
